News from the Greenhouse

[100825] Danish designer Louise Campbell and Swedish design personality David Carlson have been appointed to the Greenhouse jury. The Greenhouse will also host the opening of the ung8 touring exhibition. As before, designer Jens Fager will be responsible for the design of the hall.

Many of today’s leading design groups, such as Nendo, Front, Norway Says and BrobergRidderstråle, have made their breakthrough at the Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture Fair’s hall for independent designers and design colleges. This is where new talents can showcase their prototypes and meet manufacturers from the furniture industry. The prototypes exhibited at the Greenhouse must not be tied to a particular manufacturer, and must not have been exhibited previously. Independent designers and design colleges from anywhere in the world are invited to apply, and a jury will then decide on the final selection. The final date for applications for the Greenhouse is 22 September 2010. The jury for the Greenhouse 2011 consists of:

Louise Campbell, Danish designer who started her own studio in 1996. Her main focus in on furniture and lighting design, but her studio is increasingly also involved in product design and interior design projects. Clients include Louis Poulsen, Zanotta, Hay, Stelton and the Danish Ministry of Culture.

David Carlson, design consultant and founder of the furniture company David Design, the knowledge company Designboost and lifestyle shop Carlson Ahnell. Clients include Absolut, Electrolux, Audi, Level Vodka, Iittala, IKEA, the City of Malmö and Region Skåne.

Matti Klenell, interior designer and furniture designer. He has run his own studio since 2000, and currently works with clients in Sweden and abroad. In addition to NC Möbler, he also works with names such as BALS Tokyo, BRIO, Miljöexpo, Moooi, Muuto, Svenskt Tenn and Örsjö Belysning.

Anna von Schewen, interior designer and designer. Her designs include the chairs Hug and Latta. Anna has also gained recognition as an architect with Kovilan, a distinctive archipelago house surrounded by water on three sides.

The Greenhouse will host the première of the jury-assessed touring exhibition ung8, which is aimed at designers working in Sweden or Swedish citizens working abroad. ung is being held for the eighth time – hence ung8 – and is a partnership between Svensk Form, the Form/Design Center in Malmö and the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The exhibition will then tour to various locations in Sweden and abroad. The exhibition is held every other year.

The jury for ung8 consists of Sofia Lagerkvist (Front), Åsa Jungnelius, Petra Lilja/Jenny Nordberg (APOKALYPS LABOTEK), Jesper Waldersten, Fredrik Blank and Tham & Videgård architects.

The Stockholm Furniture Fair and the Northern Light Fair will be held on 8-12 February 2011.
