Stockholmsmässan is ISO Certified for Sustainable Events
Since 2019 Stockholmsmässan is – as the first venue in Stockholm – certified according to ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable events. Sustainability means taking the needs of current and future generations into consideration. At Stockholmsmässan we focus on Sustainable Community, Sustainable Environment and Sustainable Innovation while creating meetings that move people and communities forward.
Our owners, the city of Stockholm, have tasked us with selling and promoting Stockholm as one of Europe’s premiere meeting places. The mission also includes strengthening the competitiveness of the business region. To achieve this, we must conduct our business in sustainable manner, for both people and the society. Our ISO 20121 certification is proof that we can unite these two important missions, which we are very proud to be able to do.
The certification works as a clear starting point for our continued efforts, that amongst other things means that Stockholmsmässan commits to improve meetings and events according to our Sustainability Policy. In order to further a more sustainable meetings industry, we maintain a continuous dialogue with co-workers, customers, visitor, suppliers, and other stakeholders focused on constant improvements. The ISO 20121 certification is proof of this.

There is so much more to do for us as a company and for the industry in general. About ISO 20121
ISO 20121 is an international standard for the sustainability of events and was launched in conjunction with the 2012 Olympics in London, hence the name. ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization.
The full name of the standard is SS-EN ISO 20121:2012
Bureau Veritas Certification Sweden is the certification body for ISO 20121. The scheme is a third-party certification monitored by an external auditor. Under the certification, Bureau Veritas will check Stockholmsmässan’s compliance with ISO 20121 annually.
