Beware of ExpoGuide, World Wide Web, FAIRGuide etc
[120209] New companies that pose as producers of exhibition catalogues appear every now and then. They contact our exhibitors by sending out forms to be completed with company information for inclusion in a catalogue. The forms are deliberately set up to be confusing and disguise the fact that it is an order form.
Companies that complete the forms are often unaware that they have signed a contract by which they must pay in the equivalent of SEK 10 000 per year for three years.
We urge you to be very observant and READ THE FINE PRINT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING!
Just recently, a company called Commercial Online Manuals offered our exhibitors to participate in the catalogue Expo Guide at a cost of €1,181 per year for three years. The company operates out of Mexico. No fair arranged by Stockholm International Fairs is involved in the catalogue and the letter is completely misleading in that respect.
By using the same methods as Commercial Online Manuals a company called Construct Data Verlag (CDV) has previously offered exhibitors to participate in a catalogue named Fair Guide. CDV now has a conviction for misleading marketing.
Another similar company is the Spanish European City Guide (ECG). Their mailings are easily taken for a free-of-charge offer which eventually proves to have surprising consequences for your finances.
